Who Was The Daffodil Girl?

Daffodil Day is the largest national fundraising day for cancer research, patient and family support and education in NZ.
It's always held on the last Friday in August every year: that's this Friday 26th.
Where does the money raised from Daffodil Day go?
•Funding vital cancer research into cancer causes and treatment
•Providing free support to cancer patients, their families and caregivers
•Enabling community education/prevention programmes to be set up
We all know someone or some family hit by cancer in one form or other, so please give generously.
OK, so that's the serious part over.
Now...every year the Cancer Society of NZ plays either this tv ad (below) or a variation of it. And every year I'm enchanted by the lovely smile of the street collector. You must have noticed it yourself!
Who was she? An actor? A genuine collector, filmed in action? And where is she now? I wonder what she thinks, seeing herself year after year still locked in the bright bloom of her teens, just like the Cancer Society's daffodils. Does anyone know this girl?

Hi there – the ad has been around for about 13 years. The agency that made it is Communic8.

Kind regards

I was wondering the exact same thing! She'd obviously be well into her 30s by now. It must be so strange to see yourself like that on TV each year. I too would love to see what she looks like now!

I was watching that girl a few secs ago on TV thinking that same thing. Don't know her name but she went to the same intermediate as my little brother in 93 or 94. Hutt Intermediate, lower Hutt Wellington. I only remember cos she got teased/bullied about having cancer. Which she didn't have - she was an actor, but try telling a bunch of 12yrlds that. Anyway she moved schools because of it.

Thanks very much for that detail.
Childhood teasing can be so painful - what a shame she had to leave her school.
Maybe one day we'll find out who she is, and what she's like now.

Girl on ad never went to Hutt Intermediate. She went to Lower Hutt high school and was 14 when she made the ad

Do you by any chance know any more about her?
While 'back in the day' she may have sought anonymity after schoolground hassles, today she can be very proud that she's had such a positive impact on NZ society, and awareness for the NZ Cancer Society.
If you know her, please show her this posting and see if she'd like to contact me. :-)

She certainly arouses curiosity, be nice to know her first name at least. Quite the movie star now ?
the photographer has certainly caught sheer beauty......

Her first name is Nicolette. I just saw an Air New Zealand ad and wondered if it was her.
